First Week of Filming

Red Canyon Productions is thrilled to announce the completion of their first week of filming Red Canyon, starring: Christine Lakin, Noah Fleiss, Norman Reedus, Justin Hartley, Tim Draxl, and Katie Maguire.

The film was written by Laura Pratt and Giovanni Rodriguez and is the directing debut of Giovanni Rodriguez. The producers include Laura Pratt, Nicole Abisinio, Mike Dungan, and Giovanni Rodriguez. The line producer is Daniel Mondschain. The director of photography is Sonnel Vasquez.

Filming is taking place in the raw desert landscapes of Goblin Valley and Caineville, Utah, on August 13, 2007 to September 8, 2007.

The first two days of filming were in Goblin Valley, which soared to temperatures of 107 in the sun. The crew and actors sought shade the best that they could in the weird Goblin shaped terrain. The second day, while not quite so hot was on top of a 200-foot mesa, with no elevator service.

Things got a little easier when we moved to the primary location of an old farmhouse, which is the main set of the film. At least at that point we weren’t carrying our equipment on our backs up steep footpaths.

In the past week Red Canyon has had people jump ravines, tumble down cliffs, survive extreme heat, fall off of roofs, outrun vicious dogs, and crash on motorcycles. And that was just week one. Who says life isn’t fun?
